A study of a flow in the region of the interaction between an underexpanded rarefied jet and a plane obstacle perpendicular to the jet axis
Abstract
Density distribution in the shock layer of an underexpanded rarefied jet incident on a plane obstacle perpendicular to the jet axis is investigated experimentally using electron-probe diagnostics. The thickness of the central discontinuity is determined as a function of the jet rarefaction and the interaction geometry. A classification of flows in the shock layer based on the degree of rarefaction is proposed.
