Gas-discharge lasers using self-terminating transitions in metal vapors
Abstract
The book is concerned with a specific class of lasers operating at transitions from resonance to metastable levels in metal ions and atoms. Experimental and theoretical results are presented on the output energy and optical parameters of the lasers. Attention is also given to the physics of high-voltage nanosecond pulsed and repetitively pulsed gas discharges used for laser excitation and methods of laser frequency tuning by means of optical crystals and dies. Commercial applications of lasers of this type are discussed.
