Inverse scattering problem in a layered medium
Abstract
A solution is obtained to the inverse problem of determining the structure of slight three-dimensional scattering irregularities situated on the background of a regular layered medium. The investigation is based on the Helmholtz scalar equation using a generalized Born approximation to describe the scattering by irregularities and geometrical optics to describe wave propagation in the layered medium. The relationships obtained make it possible to determine the structure of the irregularities according to the scattered wave field with a Rayleigh resolution limit.
