The final stage of the decay of a turbulent velocity field in wake flows
Abstract
A three-parameter differential model is used to obtain analytical expressions describing the evolution of the characteristics of the velocity fields of axisymmetric and plane wake flows in the asymptotic case of weak turbulence for various values of the excess impulse. The exponents of the power laws of attenuation are shown to depend on the values of the empirical coefficients of the model. The results obtained are compared with the asymptotic laws proposed by Phillips (1955).
