Hybrid dc SQUIDS containing all refractory thin film Josephson junctions
Abstract
The design details of the junction chip, niobium housing, and feedback transformer assemblies (FTA) of hybrid dc SQUIDS are presented. Noise measurements are made with the input of both the SQUID and the FTA shorted, and the noise data is taken with an H-P Model 5420A spectrum analyzer. The flux noise results in the 0.01 to 1,000-Hz frequency range are given. The SQUID-FTA package has all refractory thin-film tunnel junctions that are easily accessible and can operate in a hostile RF environment with energy sensitivities in the 10 exp -30 joule/Hz range.
