An offset reflector antenna with low sidelobes
Abstract
The usefulness of a corrugated conical horn as a feed for reflector antennas with low sidelobes is discussed. An analysis is carried out to determine the conical horn's radiation patterns by varying its parameters such as flare angle and length, illumination phase center, and illumination taper. It is shown that only low-flare conical horns are ideally suited as feed systems for the reflector antennas and that for a given offset reflector system an optimum feed to be used can be determined to achieve low sidelobe levels in the radiation pattern.
