Performance of generalised AMF receivers for continuous phase modulation
Abstract
The multiple-symbol average matched filter (AMF) concept is used to reduce the signal set of receivers for coherent partial-response continuous phase modulation. A distance measure is applied to analyze the receiver performance under the assumption of error-free filter updating. Upper bounds on the symbol error probability are also calculated under that assumption. Simulations of the receiver performance, including the updating of phase and filter, are performed. It is shown that the multiple-symbol AMF performed equally well as the optimum receiver for schemes with low modulation indices and also for large modulation indices for some schemes, icluding binary and quaternary schemes.
