An electron-wave theory of diffraction radiation
Abstract
An electron-wave theory of diffraction radiation excited by an electron flux passing near a diffraction grating is developed on the basis of a solution to the diffraction problem in the approximation of a specified electromagnetic field diffracted by a periodic structure. Analytical expressions are obtained which make it possible to evaluate the energy characteristics and the conditions of diffraction radiation of space charge electron waves and to identify the distinctive features of diffraction electronic instruments as compared with the well-known classical devices with continuous O-type interaction.
