Fundamental limit to the performance of fibre-optic metallic glass dc magnetometers
Abstract
Thermal strains and eddy currents impose a fundamental limit to the minimum detectable field capability of metallic glass based fiber-optic dc magnetometers. A room-temperature magnetometer operating with a resonance Q of 100 exhibits a theoretical minimum detectable field of about 3 x 10 to the -11th Oe in the dc to 1 Hz bandwidth.
