Lasers in space - Applications to atmospheric sciences
Abstract
Potential applications of spaceborne lasers to atmospheric sciences, including meteorology, climatology and atmospheric chemistry, during the next decades are reviewed. The fundamentals and current state of the art of the most promising laser sources - Nd-YAG, vibronic, and CO2 lasers are presented and disccussed.
