Reflection coefficient and input admittance for nonuniform anisotropic layered waveguides
Abstract
Electromagnetic wave propagation is considered in a linear lossless nonuniform anisotropic dielectric waveguide. The nonuniformity is stratified, and the anisotropy is such as to admit bidirectional wave propagation in the direction normal to the plane of stratification. The concept of input admittance and reflection coefficient is introduced, and a matrix Riccati differential equation is derived for the reflection coefficient. Relevant parameters for the coefficients of the Riccati equation are given for uniaxial dielectrics in the polar and longitudinal configuration.
