Absolute dimensions of eclipsing binaries. IX. The early AM system GZ Canis Majoris.
Abstract
GZ CMa is an early Am double-lined eclipsing binary with somewhat unequal components. Spectrographic observations and light curves on the Strömgren system are analyzed to obtain nearly definitive properties of the components. Limb-darkening coefficients obtained with a precision of about ±0.07 are in good agreement (except in the u band) with predictions of atmospheric theory. The properties of the components are similar to those of the other early Am stars, β Aur and the primary of YZ Cas. They appear well evolved across the main-sequence band.
