HI line studies of galaxies. IV. Distance moduli of 468 disk galaxies.
Abstract
The radial velocities, V, line widths, W, and integrated fluxes, S, in the catalogues of Fisher and Tully (1981) and of the authors (Paper I) are compared for ∼ 300 galaxies in common. After correction of the FT line widths for resolution effects, the V and W parameters are in excellent systematic agreement The true (external) errors of the FT line widths are estimated to be in the range 20-25 km s-1. The flux scales S are also in good agreement for galaxies smaller than D0= 6', except for a small zero point difference. A catalogue of distance moduli of 468 disk galaxies (- 2 < T < 8) derived from the T-F data via the revised B-band Tully-Fisher relation of Paper II and homogeneous with our catalogue of 822 objects in Paper III is given.
