Dynamics of bubble departure
Abstract
In order to understand the boiling phenomena and how gravity affects it, the forces acting on a growing bubble were derived for a bubble forming on a heated surface. It is shown that pool boiling can occur in the absence of gravitational accelerations and, in certain cases, can be relatively insensitive to gravitational effects.
