Weak shock propagation into a cross-junction against a jet
Abstract
The results presented in this paper describe the propagation of weak shocks through a cross-junction formed by the intersection of circular ducts of unequal diameters. Sidewall pressure histories obtained in the various tubes have been used to describe the wave propagation and the interaction of the incidence wave with a high velocity exhaust jet present in one of the arms. The range of incident shock Mach numbers was 1.02 to 1.11 and the range of exhaust jet Mach numbers was 0.90 to 0.95. Results that were obtained for shocks propagating into still air are included for reference purposes.
