Prediction of wall-bounded turbulent flows with an improved version of a Reynolds-stress model
Abstract
Some improvements to the modelled transport equations of the Reynolds stresses u(i)u(j) and the turbulence energy dissipation rate epsilon introduced by Launder, Reece, and Rodi (1975) and by Hanjalic and Launder (1976) are proposed. Viscous effects on the diffusive transport of u(i)u(j) and epsilon are explicitly accounted for, and a new aproximation of the pressure-strain correlation near solid walls is proposed. The dissipation terms in the transport equations for u(i)u(j) are modified and some constants appearing in the model are reevaluated. The wall boundary condition for the epsilon equation is discussed.
