SIMSAR study, section 2
Abstract
Investigations into the numerical simulation of a SAR-system are presented. A quasi two-dimensional model for a Collection of Point Objects (CPO) was extended to three dimensions. Assuming an isotropic dispersion of reflecting electromagnetic waves, every point object is described by strength and random phase. The radar platform is introduced and an expression for the voltage received (i.e., echo of the CPO) was derived. Necessary software, i.e., (1) the mixing of the rough signal of a Gaussic pulse radar, (2) the implementation of the SAR-processor, and (3) the generation of images which can be elaborated, was briefly described. Matrix multiplication and time-frequency domain transformations were carried out on an array-processor.
