Precursors for Brazilian magnetic anomalies from 1922 to 1969
Abstract
Annual means of the total F, of the horizontal component H and of the declination D of the Earth's magnetic field from four South America observatories (La Quiaca 294.4 deg E; 22.1 deg S, Vassouras 316.3 deg E; 22.4 deg S, Huancayo 284.7 deg E; 12.0 deg S and Pilar 296.1 deg E; 31.7 deg S) from 1922 to 1969 were used to determine the trajectory of the center of the Brazilian magnetic anomaly through a conical model. The evolution observed is discussed in terms of secular variations, westward drift and secondary movements.
