Construction of a cold neutron source at FRM, Munich
Abstract
The construction of a cold neutron source was started. The aim is to significantly increase the neutron flux in the wavelength range above 3A. An increase by a factor 10 to 20 is expected. The basic function of such a source is given. The construction is explained from neutron physics and experimental viewpoints. The setup is technically described. Operation and security concepts are presented. The status of the construction is given. The further course of the projects is described.
