Swath widening in space borne synthetic aperture radar - A new technique
Abstract
It is proposed that the swath of a satellite-borne SAR system can be doubled by using two center frequencies separated by just a few hundreds of MHz. Owing to the relative insensitivity of the radar backscatter to the change of a few hundreds of MHz of frequency, it should be possible to increase the swath with only a marginal increase in system complexity. The basic concept of this scheme is discussed, and hardware implementation details are presented.
