Optimal pursuit on Lagrangian orbits
Abstract
The pursuit of two vehicles, each having a jet engine with small acceleration, about the collinear Lagrangian points of the earth-moon system is studied. The velocity components for the pursuing vehicle are greater than those for the pursued vehicle. The terminal surface, defined as the surface on which the positions of the two vehicles and their velocities coincide, is presented in parametric form. The trajectory described by the pursuing vehicle which determines the minimum time for attaining the terminal surface is given in integral form.
