Metastable electron states and active medium kinetics
Abstract
The current status of research concerned with the use of metastable electron states in active media is reviewed. A method for studying the electron kinetics of a medium containing molecules and atoms is proposed which makes it possible to significantly simplify the computation of term populations. The process kinetics of some promising mixtures is analyzed, with particular attention given to an iodine-oxygen active medium. The mechanisms of the formation of excited oxygen are examined.
