Design concepts and optimization criteria of microwave filters and multiplexers for the 20/30 Ghz Italian domestic satellite (ITALSAT) payload
Abstract
The results of Phase-B parametric feasibility and optimization studies of the 12, 20, and 30-GHz filters and multiplexers for the planned Italsat communications payloads (6-channel regenerative repeater and 4-channel transparent repeater) are reported. Block diagrams of the payloads are shown, and the individual components are characterized, making the design tradeoffs necessary to optimize performance at -20 to 70 C with currently available manufacturing and alignment tolerances. The resulting designs represent significant improvements over those of the Phase-A study (Perrotta et al., 1982).
