A 12 GHz, 200 W traveling-wave tube amplifier for broadcasting satellites
Abstract
A 12GHz band, 200W class helix traveling-wave tube amplifier (TWTA) for broadcast satellites is presented. This TWTA is now under development for future broadcasting satellites. It operates in the frequency range from 11.7 to 12.2GHz, and output power of 210W, saturated gain of 43dB and overall efficiency of 43 percent have been achieved. The gold-plated and tapered helix, and radiation-cooled four-stage collector are employed in TWT for efficiency enhancement and weight reduction. Outlines of TWT, EPC and TWTA are given of the design and test results.
