Lightweight compact feed network at 6/4 GHz for Brasilsat antenna
Abstract
A description is given of a compact C-band antenna feed for the Brasilsat satellite. It was found possible to accommodate the complex feed into the available space of the HS376 spacecraft by making use of a special approach. This approach involves the use of half height ridged waveguide, small size duplexers, and TEM-line. The design of the main components is discussed, taking into account the six vertically polarized horns the nine horizontally polarized horns, the waveguide interconnecting networks, the duplexers, and the four TEM-boxes. Attention is given to the avantages of the integral assembly approach utilized for the design of the feed network.
