The ANIK-B SLIM TDMA field trial
Abstract
The ANIK-B satellite was launched on December 15, 1978. It has transponders at 4/6 GHz and 12/14 GHz. The SLIM TDMA project uses the 14 to 12 GHz transponders. The SLIM TDMA is a time-division multiple access system using a burst rate of 3.184 Mb/s with a frame length of 20 msec. The ANIK-B SLIM TDMA pilot project is concerned with the testing of satellite facilities in a role related to local and area distribution for digital data networks, for trunks, teleconferencing, and facsimile transmission.
