Long-wave optics: The science and technology of infrared and near-millimetre waves. Volume 1 - Principles. Volume 2 Applications
Abstract
The generation, propagation, measurement, and applications of IR and near-mm-wavelength radiation are discussed from both theoretical and practical perspectives in a general introduction. Topics examined include the mathematical fundamentals of EM theory, IR emission and absorption, IR propagation, and IR radiometry and spectrometry. Consideration is given to IR and optical atomic spectroscopy, molecular spectroscopy, spectroscopy of solids, the IR properties of semiconductors, IR spectroscopy of liquids, magnetic-resonance spectroscopy, IR lasers and their technological uses, IR devices based on nonlinear interactions, optical materials for the IR, IR imaging and thermography, IR astronomy, and metrological uses of IR radiation.
