Nonlocal heat transport by nonMaxwellian electrons
Abstract
The generalization of the SpitzerHarm solution to steep density and temperature gradients requires the computation of the appropriate nonMaxwellian isotropic part of the electron distribution. Analytic solutions for a steady state, highZ plasma were developed employing the diffusion approximation. Applications of these solutions include computation of the resulting heat flux, thermal smoothing of transverse temperature perturbations, and modification of linear heat flow instabilities.
