Light scattering in laser cavities
Abstract
The undesirable consequences of light scattering and birefringence in laser cavitives are analyzed, and it is suggested that these effects can be minimized by outputting the scattered light from the cavity as quickly as possible. A simple method is proposed for estimating the performance degradation caused by light scattering in lasers with unstable cavities.
