Interferometric study of viscous gas flowing from slit or cylindrical channels into a region of lower pressure
Abstract
Experimental results are reported on the density distribution of argon and nitrogen streaming from slit or cylindrical channels into a gas tank at a low initial pressure. The influence of the relative channel length and temperature factor on the density distribution inside a channel and in an outgoing supersonic jet is studied for flows with Reynolds numbers from 65,000 to 1.5 million.
