Determination of optimum neodymium concentrations in gadolinium-scandium-gallium garnet crystals
Abstract
The temporal evolutions of the metastable level population in gadolinium-scandium-gallium garnet (GSGG) crystals are calculated in the context of the jump mechanism of transfer. The microparameters of the donor-donor and donor-acceptor interaction of Nd(3+) are determined by comparing the calculated and the experimental decay curves. For GSGG-Nd(3+) specimens of low optical density, optimum Nd(3+) ion concentrations are calculated for both continuous and pulsed excitation.
