An anisotropic mechanism for the generation of a magnetic field in a collisional plasma in a high-frequency field
Abstract
Ideas concerning magnetostatic instabilities are used in analyzing the generation fo a magnetic field in a collisional plasma located in a high-frequency field. By solving the kinetic collision equation, the anisotropic part of the equilibrium function of the electrons is calculated. A kinetic equation for the magnetostatic (perturbed) part of the distribution function is obtained which allows for the equilibrium particle anisotropy and the anisotropy of the energy spectrum of the high-frequency waves. The equation is solved for the limiting cases of small and large ratios of the perturbation wavelength to the free path length.
