An anisotropic mechanism for the generation of a magnetic field in a collisional plasma in a highfrequency field
Abstract
Ideas concerning magnetostatic instabilities are used in analyzing the generation fo a magnetic field in a collisional plasma located in a highfrequency field. By solving the kinetic collision equation, the anisotropic part of the equilibrium function of the electrons is calculated. A kinetic equation for the magnetostatic (perturbed) part of the distribution function is obtained which allows for the equilibrium particle anisotropy and the anisotropy of the energy spectrum of the highfrequency waves. The equation is solved for the limiting cases of small and large ratios of the perturbation wavelength to the free path length.
