A comparison of synchronous observations of a prominence in the radio and optical regions
Abstract
The observations were made on July 31, 1981. The photometric measurements were obtained in the form of a field of values for the intensity along the prominence. For purposes of comparison with the radio data, a determination was made of the flux in the H-alpha line, as though being observed together with a radio telescope beam. In interpreting the results, it is pointed out that the separate parts of the prominence probably possessed significant radial velocities and that as a consequence the radiation of hydrogen in observations in the band at 0.25 A may not be taken into account.
