A Navier-Stokes capillary free boundary in open boat crystal growth
Abstract
A method for finding stationary capillary free boundaries in viscous liquid flow was derived and was used for the computation of a free boundary in an open boat crystal growth model. A shape of the free boundary is assigned and the flow field within that shape is calculated after disregarding one of the boundary conditions on the free boundary. Next a new shape of the free boundary is computed which satisfies as closely as possible the boundary condition that was relaxed. This procedure is repeated until convergence is attained. The influence of buoyancy and thermocapillary forces are considered.
