Acoustical communications by means of small explosive charges
Abstract
An acoustical communication system that conveys information by modulating the time intervals between detonations of small (subgram) explosive charges was designed and field-tested. In addition to an information capacity of about 20 bits per charge, the system provides a means for making inferences about sound speed and attenuation in the propagation medium.
