Symposium on Flow-Induced Vibrations, New Orleans, LA, December 9-14, 1984, Proceedings. Volumes 1, 4 & 5
Abstract
Among the topics discussed are: fluid forces on a rigid cylinder in turbulent crossflow; flow induced oscillations of cylinders in the streamwise direction; and vibrations of a turbomachine blade due to viscous wakes. Consideration is also given to: a noncontacting electrooptic displacement sensor for piezoelectrically driven active surfaces; a Fast Fourier array technique for low wavenumber measurements of the turbulent boundary layer fluctuating pressure field; the use of random forces to simulate the vibroacoustic response of a plate excited by a hydrodynamic turbulent boundary layer; and the effect of directional surface impedance on the low wavenumber pressure spectrum. Among additional topics discussed are: flow-induced vibrations of mixing vessel internals; buffeting of isolated tubes in cross flow; and transient loading of pie-shell-type supporting offshore structures.
