A second order accurate flux splitting scheme in two-dimensional gas dynamics
Abstract
Van Leer (1977) has proposed a systematic procedure for obtaining the second order of accuracy in the numerical solution of hyperbolic equations, on the basis of the definition of slopes in the one-dimensional spatial discretization. This approach, which is attractive in appearing as a straightforward modification of any first-order accurate upwind scheme, is presently applied to two dimensions through the introduction of a spatial discretization with linear discontinuous elements in an explicit, conservative Eulerian scheme.
