Current status of and problems in the development of CAD systems for the design of electronic circuits
Abstract
The use of CAD systems to design LSI and VLSI circuits is examined, with attention given to avenues of program optimization, parallel processor operation, and various hardware facilities (e.g., the combination of standard and special-purpose processors). Also examined are the possibility of extending the range of application of CAD systems, the development of the fourth-generation CAD system for circuit design, and problems of the wide-scale (industrial) implementation of CAD systems.
