Efficiency of compensation reception
Abstract
Values of energy gain are determined for a compensation-reception (CR) system which is used to suppress noise that does not have the same arrival direction as the signal. The efficiency of CR is compared with that of single reception (SR) and coherent-combination (CC) reception for a two-element antenna array. It is shown that CR is considerably more noise-immune than SR or CC reception. The energy gain obtained from the application of CR increases as the level of station noise increases (with an increase of Pn/sigma-squared) and becomes significant at Pn/sigma-squared greater than 1.
