Effect of incoherent scattering on attenuation and cross polarization of millimeter waves due to rain. II - Calculations at 34.8, 82, 140, and 245.5 GHz for spherical raindrops
Abstract
Numerical calculations on the effect of multiple scattering on attenuation and cross polarization due to rain are made at 34.8, 82, 140, and 245.5 GHz. Circular polarizations and spherical raindrops are considered. Directional patterns of the incoherent intensity of both left-hand circular and right-hand circular polarizations are examined at various points within the rain medium or on boundaries. The variation of the directional patterns with the change in propagation distances clearly shows the effect of multiple scattering on the generation of incoherent intensity. The ratio of incoherent to coherent power at the receiver and its frequency dependence are also examined.
