Tapping the energy of a surface wave from a plasma waveguide
Abstract
The energy tapping efficiency of a surface wave from a plasma waveguide as a result of scattering by a shocklike inhomogeneity of permittivity is discussed. In the general case the scattering field is represented mathematically through an infinite number of constants which satisfy two infinite systems of equations. Several practical examples of the system are discussed on the basis of simple solutions to equations for the reflection and transmission coefficients and for the radiation pattern in the far zone. It is pointed out that the phase velocity and directional effects of the radiation are increased with an increase in the phase velocity of the surface wave.
