Features of the focusing of radiation fields in multimode wave channels
Abstract
The characteristics of field localization in layered multimode waveguides with known parameters are examined on the basis of the phase-conjugation principle. Sources synthesized on the basis of this principle are characterized by a complex structure, leading to difficulties in controlling the focal spot. A generalized conjugation principle is proposed for absorbing media, which is based on the use of advanced potentials and compensates attenuation differences for different modes (rays). The possibilities of field focusing in multimode waveguides are illustrated by evaluating the longitudinal and transverse dimensions of focal spots for different situations.
