Allowance for cylindrical-reflector symmetry in the numerical solution of a diffraction problem
Abstract
A compact computer technique for solving problems of wave diffraction by a cylinder of arbitrary profile by the method of integral equations is examined. A system of symbols is introduced for a cylinder with two symmetry axes, which makes it possible to use a representation of the incident-wave field as even and odd components in the proposed algorithm. The proposed approach determines the scattering characteristics of the cylinder in a wide wavelength range with a considerable reduction of computer time. The problem of diffraction by a cylinder with a logarithmic directix is solved by way of illustration, and the theoretical results are confirmed experimentally.
