Theory of resonance antennas
Abstract
The synthesis method of Katsenelenbaum et al. (1983) is extended to the case of resonance antennas in the form of bodies of revolution radiating magnetic-mode axisymmetric fields. A mathematical procedure is proposed for the synthesis of sharply directional antennas which is based on the representation of the wave beam as the field of a point source situated in a complex plane. Numerical results on the synthesis of resonance antennas are presented for several given radiation patterns, and the natural frequencies and caustic locations of higher-mode oscillations are determined.
