Application of inhomogeneous periodic reflecting structures in the design of SAW bandpass filters
Abstract
The weak-reflection approximation is used to analyze the frequency-response characteristics of L, Z, and U shaped SAW filters employing arbitrarily weighted inhomogeneous reflecting gratings. The maximum relative passband widths that can be achieved with various configurations are determined. Finally, a comparison is made between theoretical and experimental results for U-shaped filters on quartz substrates with gratings comprising discretely weighted aluminum reflectors.
