Theory of the synthesis of a waveguide field-converter
Abstract
The possibility of synthesizing a waveguide resonator which converts two waveguide modes into one is demonstrated theoretically. A calculation is made of the value of wall transparence which provides for a transmitted field that precisely corresponds to the prespecified one. The Dirichlet problem of field determination is solved on the basis of the field value at the boundary, and the currents are thus determined more precisely. It is noted that the nonresonant background is inversely proportional to the resonator Q-factor, which is an order of magnitude better than in previous studies.
