Computational modelling of jet induced mixing in cryogenic propellant tanks in low-g
Abstract
The SOLA-ECLIPSE Code is developed to enable computational prediction of jet induced mixing in cryogenic propellant tanks in a low gravity environment. The code is an out growth of the SOLA family of codes and it solves the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in conjunction with the thermal energy equation and a k epsilon turbulence model. The code performance is verified by comparing code predictions to existing data from small scale zero-g experiments. The code predictions are found to be in good agreement with the data.
