Stability of a magnetic suspension in a field of permanent magnets
Abstract
An analytical expression is obtained for the magnetic field force structure for a particular type of permanent-magnet suspension system. Results of this structural study are used to investigate the possibility of achieving system trajectories which assure dynamic suspension in a magnetic field. It is shown that the required trajectory properties can be approximated by controlling the force-field structure. Constraints on the system-design parameters are determined, and results concerning the stability of dynamic suspension are presented.
