Calculation of heat and mass transfer processes during crystal growth by means of zone melting
Abstract
Consideration is given to the development of a method for solving the thermodiffusion problem concerning the solidification of a two-component melt in the absence of a two-phase zone. The method is elaborated with reference to the axisymmetric zone melting of PbTe in the case when this problem has a stationary solution. An analysis is made of the effect of natural convection on the shape of the zone and the distribution of the temperature and concentration of the components in the melt for different values of gravitational acceleration.
