Raman-Nath equation and Schroedinger-like equation with a Mathieu potential
Abstract
A first-order perturbed solution of a Schroedinger-like equation with a Mathieu potential is obtained by applying the analytical procedure of Bosco and Dattoli (1983) to the corresponding Raman-Nath equation (derived using an approximation). The results are applicable to systems in which the value of the constant mu is small relative to the values of alpha and Omega, including such problems as free-electron lasers, light diffraction by ultrasonic waves, and the dynamics of multilevel systems interacting with EM radiation.
